As part of the newly released Playground App 2.5.0, educators now have the ability to mark children absent from the app. For each child that is marked absent, a notification will be sent to both their parent(s) via Home and service admins via Office so everyone stays informed. Jared Korinko: Fantatsic work however there are some bugs between the Apple release and the Andriod release. Also it is unclear if the sign in grace period applies to marking a child absent from playground app.
On the apple version there is no Mark as absent feature and yes I have updated the app.
Andriod is working however if I wanted to mark a child absent that was due in at 7:30 am and it is now 11:00 am it simple will not save my choice?
I this because the sign in grace period (1 hour either side of the booking) applies to marking children absent? if this is the case that is manageable but it appears no where in the How to guide posted and I think it import childcare setting's know this.
Could this feature be tweatked? To have have no time limit at all beacuse centres arent always going to know within an hour of a child's booking if they won't be in, some parents may be hard to contact to confrim an absence that they haven't let us know about.

Jared Korinko: any advice on my previous comment?

Carousel Nursery: We are having the same issue all of our devices are apple and non of them have the ability to mark children absent. I have updated and reset multiple times.
Jared Korinko
Theresa OSHC: Can you let us know what the name of your service is?
Jared Korinko
Carousel Nursery: We are investigating if the grace period can be excepted for the absences. I will update you soon.
As for the Mark absent feature not showing, are you still experiencing this problem or is it showing now?

Jared Korinko: Regarding the service ID where do you find this?
Carousel Nursery
Jared Korinko: yes still expeirencing this on the iPas only. I have now seen that you CAN infact mark someone absent (on android) at a later time. Child booking was 12pm and I marked them out at 5pm. Not sure if this is true for all bookings or not.

We are a small service and only the Coordinator can mark the children absent on the computer system. It would save us approximately 10-15 minutes and a lot less hassle if it could be done on the Ipads.
OSHC FNPS
This would save us at least 15 minutes minimum

This would save a lot of time & hassle especially of an afternoon. Instead of having to note down who is away & then come back to the computer to mark them as absent, we could just do it at the time on the IPad. Also for parents to be able to mark their children as absent when they sign their other children in would be great to. At present they need to tell us & then we need to mark them as absent on the computer.

Hi Everyone,
If you had to estimate, how much time would this feature save an educator each day?
Peter
Nat Patterson
Peter Harris: ~10 minutes

Peter Harris: about 30 minutes per day to check through rolls for BSC and ASC.

Peter Harris: I think part of the key here is the time it may also save chasing children who have been identified as absent when out collecting children. It will speed up the accountability process as well. A job that may have had to wait for an hour until someone was available to be in the office out of ratio to complete the Master Roll changes could then be done immediately. It would also mean for BSC that children could be marked as absent at the time of sign out rather than again having to follow each child up later. It would save 30mins + a day

Peter Harris: At least 30minutes per session, we have approximately 180 children to sign in and account for, then trying to find those that are not signed in, whilst contacting families and then this information is passed on to our Admin team to mark the children as absent, if they are busy with families, staff, customers it also delays the process.

Peter Harris: This function would save a great deal of time as off office staff have to go through the roll each morning and afternoon and the screen does not take you back to where you left it and you have to scroll through the whole roll each time from the computer. As the numbers are colour coded at the top of the master roll for absent/singed in/not signed in but booked in this should be able to be clicked on to bring up the absent children and allow staff to absent them in a timely fashion. Also a function on the playground app for all staff to be able to absent children as we have 2 sign in stations for BSC one being at another school and off the premises. We also have 4 sign in stations in ASC, one at another school, another off site at the prep area of the school and two sign ins on service site. Please consider this when you are making your decision on upgrades to xplor as this should be a primary basic function on the system.

Peter Harris: So much time!
For us it's a safety and record keeping issue as well. If educators aren't able to sign children in and out, this is a huge quality of care issue. Especially because the HUB is so difficult for parents to use, we're getting big gaps in time where children aren't signed in.
QK Next was perfect for this!!! Quick and simple and user friendly!

Also allow parents to mark absences from the Home App, without the need for confirmation through Office.

This would be great, please include in the improvements, afternoons are hectic enough. Also allow parents to mark one of their children absent on the roll, if ones sick and their bringing the other in.
