Currently, State Kinder funding is applied entirely to the first day of a child's bookings within the week. Where the funding exceeds the gap fee on day one, it rolls over to day two and so on...rather than being distributed across the eligible sessions.
Ideally, State Kinder funding should be evenly apportioned across all sessions in the week that overlap with the Kinder program days.
The current approach creates anomalies in how Staff Discounts are calculated and reflected on family statements, as the funding is concentrated against a single session rather than distributed across the relevant sessions.
This makes it difficult for both families and administrators to understand:
  • How State Kinder funding has been calculated.
  • Which sessions the funding has been applied to.
  • How the funding impacts the Staff Discount calculation.
  • Why the resulting charges and discounts appear as they do on family statements.
Required enhancement
State Kinder funding should be evenly distributed across all eligible sessions within the week that overlap with the Kinder program days, rather than being applied solely to the child's first booking day.
This would provide a more consistent and transparent allocation of funding, improve the accuracy and consistency of Staff Discount calculations, and make family statements easier for both families and administrators to understand and reconcile.
